Kansas might not be the most adventurous place on earth to grow up. Even Dorothy started her quest for the Wizard of Oz and the land Somewhere Over the Rainbow from this part of America. New York’s acclaimed designer and animation director Aaron Stewart grew up in Wichita, Kansas in the 1970s. During a recent visit back home he re-discovered the old, hidden picture albums of his childhood. Their quirky Kodacolor aura and homey settings inspired him to populate his past anew, with the friendly critters he had always wanted to be surrounded by. The past is reanimated in backward projections of childhood fantasies and imaginary friends.
The result is a unique spill and spit resistant boardbook, which invites grown ups to tell their children a personal story of long ago adventures – and re-live their own childhood.
